A Plan for America

Posted in Politics | No Comments »

It’s unavoidable. I have to talk politics again.  When the President of the United States has to resort to threats in order to get legislation moving, you know you’re in trouble as a nation!

Most Americans, according to current polls, are unhappy with the current administration.  Americans believe that politicians are corrupt and Washington is in shambles.  I am personally appalled at how things are done.

So, here’s my flippant, unresearched and  idealistic plan for America:

1. Accept that the president is nothing more than a project manager.  That said, we should elect people who have a proven work record in this area.  Project managers, coaches, teachers, CEOs, etc. have proven leadership skills.  We need a leader who does more than speak of hope, we need one who can actually inspire it through their actions AND words.

2. Abolish political parties.  Then the politician’s loyalties are not to some old school group, but rather to the people.  I don’t want you to tell me what I want to hear, I want you to show me what you believe through your actions and the bills/groups/ideas you have proven to support.

3.  Elect people who have common sense.  I want people who know they need to put money away for a rainy day, who know what it means to work hard, who appreciate the life they lead and reflect that in the work they do.   These people accept that they are servants of the country and its people, not power-hungry narcissists.

4.  Appoint people who have work experience and a proven record.  You want ideas, no financially-backed promises.

5.  Set up non-partisan (see above), public debates on each and every issue.  Listen to both sides without bias and make an educated, common sense decision.  Instead of what is best for YOU, think of what is best for the country.

6.  Congress is taxed like the rest of us. Why do they live high on the hog when they’re supposed to represent us?  How can they represent us when they can’t even relate to us?

7.  Remember what our country is about.  Everyone has the freedom to succeed.  Stop making it about “us” and “them”.  We’re just as divided as we’ve ever been.   With enough drive and ambition, anyone can succeed.

8. And finally, STOP SPENDING MONEY!!!!!!  This is what got us into trouble in the first place.  From Joe Smith in Little Town, U.S.A. to the federal government, no one has stopped spending money.  Joe Smith took out and ultimately defaulted on loans.  The federal government just keeps spending money.  STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Tighten your belt.  Find your footing again.  We can’t continue building a house of cards with the belief that it will continue to stand.  It WILL COME TUMBLING DOWN!  Fund the necessary things:  Education, public safety, national security, social security…Cut everywhere and anywhere you can everywhere else.

Oh, and a final word to President Obama: stop apologizing to the rest of the world.  Take a stand and have the fortitude and conviction to stand by it.  We’re not out to please everyone else.  Charity begins at home.  You have a lot of ground to make up with the American people and I suggest you start listening!

God Bless America :)

Tax Dollars

Posted in General, Politics | No Comments »

Did you know that the reason Social Security is always on the precipice of destruction is because our government has been borrowing money from it and not paying back the loan?

Nice bit of information, right?

How about, President Obama is pouring money into creating light-rail lines, all the while ending funding for NASA’s moon exploration AND pulling funding for the 2,000 mile border fence?

So, apparently, new technology is more important than the trillions we have invested in NASA.

I have multiple points about border security.  We spend billions of dollars a year housing illegal aliens, arresting them, paying their medical bills, etc.  We finally come up with an idea to slow down the flow, in addition to adding jobs, and President Obama decided this wasn’t a viable option for his budget.

On top of that, we get terrorist threats all of the time.  Why would we want to increase security at our borders?  I guess we tax payers are expendable!

Now, I haven’t gone through President Obama’s entire budget, but if these few tidbits are any inclination, it’s just further proof that our government is blinded by their special interests and power trips.

The biggest messed up point is that we already have over a trillion dollar deficit.  How is a light rail system worth putting us more in debt?  Shouldn’t our government, the people we’ve elected to act in our best interests, cut out special interests in the interest of saving a buck?  Isn’t this overzealous spending and greed what got us into this recession to begin with?

In the interest of jobs, we’re over 10% for unemployment, so cutting NASA funding means cutting jobs.  Cutting the border fence means cutting potential jobs.

Did I mention that the money ear-marked for light rail is only to get the projects STARTED?  So, our government will have to provide more funding down the line.

Am I the only one is completely frustrated by this whole process?  What the ***** are these people thinking?  They are the destruction of this country!!!!  Doesn’t anyone have some inkling of common sense??!!!!

I need to go do my homework.  It’s a great way of staying away from this absolutely infuriating nonsense!

Nancy Pelosi and Health care

Posted in Politics, Society | No Comments »

Nancy Pelosi scares the crap out of me!

She is a one-woman steam-rolling, havoc-wreaking machine.

Explain to me why her new health care bill is 400,000 words of legalese.  What is she trying to hide?

The Democrats keep saying they want to increase competitiveness within the private sector of health care.  Yet, these are the same people who insist of restricting interstate competition.  They are the same people who want to offer a new public option, but at the same time, add NEW restrictions to the private insurance companies that do exist.  Interesting.

Whenever the government intercedes in private industry, it seems to cost ME money.

Whenever the government intercedes, there’s more red tape, more bureaucracy and escalated costs involved.  Did I mention the costs trickle down to ME? and to you?!!!

The last time they spent my money, in the form of the stimulus bill, how well did that go over?  Where are all the new jobs the stimulus bill was going to create?

It seems to me that Nancy Pelosi, President Obama, Harry Reid and the like just want to tell people what they want to hear.  Why would they do this?  Duh.  They want to get elected.  They crave the power.  They don’t give a CRAP about Joe Regular Guy.  They don’t know what it feels like to live paycheck to paycheck.  They don’t know what it feels like to struggle to put shoes on your children’s feet.

They are Band-Aid People.

Band-Aid People like the quick fix with no sense of consequences.

In a previous post I did agree that something needs to be done to improve our health care system.  I would absolutely support and pay for health care for all children.  I would support loosening the laws so that private insurers would have more competition, thus driving costs down and opening up options for adults.  I support covering all health care costs directly caused to those who worked at Ground Zero.  I believe in insuring public service workers who get paid crap, and military personnel who protect our freedoms.

I do not support covering those who do not fall under the aforementioned umbrella.

I do not support this Democrat Runaway Train currently ruling our country.  Where are the Checks and Balances?

Enough Already!

Why are Pelosi and Reid in such a rush to get these bills through?  Are they afraid someone will catch something in the text they are suppose to overlook?   At almost 2,000 pages deceit and subterfuge are surely in there somewhere (sorry, but I can’t help but be pessimistic).

When I was a child, I remember doctors were wealthy.  They earned it, no?  6+ years of school, hours away from family and friends, etc., etc., etc.  The Establishment has slowly stripped away at all the things that were great about medicine because politics became involved.

STAY OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope to GOD that in 2010, the voters in this country will have gotten a clearer view of Washington and DO SOMETHING!  Get rid of the Pelosis and Reids and find people who have a CLUE what it means to be a middle class American.

Don’t Tread on Me

Posted in Politics | No Comments »

God, all I do is bitch about politics.  I can’t help it!  Our federal government keeps sticking its hands in a million different pockets!

When I was a little girl, our school flew multiple flags, including the Stars & Stripes and a bright yellow one that warned: Don’t Tread on Me.  After a little research, I found out that many of the Tea Parties thrown this year used this flag to symbolize their purpose.  Sounds good to me!

Today, I received a mass email from the president of the Arizona Education Association.  He pointedly blamed the Republican majority in our state legislature for the  impending cuts to education in our state. I wonder why he didn’t reference back to our former Gov. Napolitano’s insistence on overspending in so many other areas, which led to our state’s deficit.  Oh, that’s right, she’s a Democrat.  Stop pointing fingers and DO SOMETHING about it.  God, politicians annoy the crap out of me.

So, all this stuff made me think, what would I do if I ran for office?  Here’s my Top 10 List:

1. Accept that we are not all going to be equal, but try to do right by the majority.

2. Listen to THE PEOPLE.  You know, those of you who vote and put your trust in someone to stand up for you.

3. Put education first.  Everyone bitches about it, but no one actually does anything to remedy this problem.  It is a MAJOR issue.

4. Protect the environment, but don’t shove “green” down everyone’s throat.  Don’t threaten me with the demise of the planet.  Use common sense and let people know that pollutants cause health issues (among other things).  Make it relatable to the masses, rather than make it yet another polarizing issue.

5. Have advisors from both sides.  I want to hear what each side has to say before I make an informed decision.  Common sense wins out.

6. Welfare to work.  Train people to do jobs.  We need McDonald’s employees as much as we need doctors.

7. Protect our young and our elderly.  Health insurance, social security, etc.  We need to foster our young (mind and body) and take care of those who took care of us.

8.  Stop trying to save failing companies.  That means no more stimulus packages.  If you fail because of stupid management, overspending and inferior products, RIP.  Someone else will fill your spot.

9.  Minimize unions.  If we paid fireman, police officers and teachers what they are worth, they wouldn’t need unions to fight for their rights.  Use common sense.  The auto unions are part of the demise of GM and Ford.

10. Revere the office.  If you are a lying, cheating, scum sucker, you lose your position.  If you are in a position of power, there are people who look to you do to the right thing.  You are held up on a pedestal and need to remember that.  Have some morals and some character!!!!
I could probably go on for days, but that’s enough for now.  We’ve got a government that is filled with people who are too big for their britches.  I don’t need to name names.  PUBLIC SERVICE means you do what your constituents want.  When they tell you to stop spending money and you keep doing it anyway, you are failing at your job.  You are not a god.  Ugh.  Our forefathers are rolling over in their graves.
